<p><strong>About the role</strong></p>
<p>The Head of Recovery is a strategic leadership role responsible for architecting and executing Moniepoint’s debt recovery framework. As a qualified legal professional, you will ensure minimal credit losses by optimizing the recovery unit’s efficiency through a blend of rigorous legal strategy and operational excellence.</p>
<p>In this capacity, you will develop and implement comprehensive recovery strategies, design the organizational structure of the recovery unit, and recruit high-caliber talent. Your deep legal expertise in debt litigation and asset recovery will be vital in navigating complex delinquency cases. You will leverage a data-driven approach to evaluate the efficacy of recovery tactics and personnel performance.</p>
<p><strong>What you’ll get to do</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Develop and execute recovery strategies to reduce non-performing loans and bad debt provisions.</li>
<li>Act as the primary legal strategist for the recovery department, ensuring all actions comply with financial regulations and debt collection laws.</li>
<li>Manage high-level engagements with external stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and external counsel, to expedite the resolution of non-performing loans (NPLs).</li>
<li>Design the recovery organisation and supervise the hiring process for recovery talent</li>
<li>Optimise the effectiveness of the recovery team by setting clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).</li>
<li>Continuously provide training to the recovery network in alignment with established recovery strategies and industry best practices.</li>
<li>Report on recovery performance and provide insights to senior management.</li>
<li>Collaborate with internal departments such as credit, legal, risk, and finance to align recovery efforts.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB)</li>
<li>Minimum 7 years of experience in debt recovery/litigation in Nigeria</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of debt recovery laws, banking regulations, and court procedures in Nigeria.</li>
<li>At least 7 years of experience in credit recovery</li>
<li>Strong network of legal and law enforcement contacts across the country</li>
<li>Proven experience in leading a recovery team and managing high-value non-performing loans</li>
<li>Proven experience in handling recovery in each of the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria</li>
<li>Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.</li>
<li>Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data</li>
